Introduction to Porta-Potty Rental

It’s not an exaggeration to assume that everyone in the Phoenix area has used a porta-potty at least once. However, only a small percentage of those in the Valley have been assigned the task of securing a porta-potty rental for a construction site or special event. If you’re a first-timer in this situation, you likely are a little uncertain.

Regardless of whether you’re from Tempe, Glendale, Gilbert, or somewhere else in the Phoenix area, you probably have many of the same questions as your peers. We want to make sure customers are comfortable ordering porta-potties in the Arizona Valley, and we know that a little education can put minds at ease.

In this article, we answer some of the common questions and cover some of the topics that are most discussed by first-timer renters. We hope the information provided will give you the answers you need to make decisions about your portable toilet rental.

What Kind of Porta-Potty Should I Rent?

The kind of porta-potty you should rent depends on who will be using it. For construction workers, a standard unit will do. For events, a standard unit could be fine, or you could opt for a higher-end luxury unit. Don’t forget about handicap-accessible portable toilets; they are required in certain situations. Explore our website or contact us to learn about the options we offer.

How Many Porta-Potties Do I Need?

You know you need portable restrooms, but maybe you could use some guidance about how many you should rent for your job site or event. This is one of the most common questions we get. To help our customers order the correct quantity, we wrote a blog and developed a handy chart. To read it, click here.

What is That Blue Stuff in the Toilet?

The blue chemical in the waste tank of a portable toilet serves two purposes. It is a deodorizer/fragrance enhancer that also breaks down waste and paper. “Blue” as it’s commonly called in the industry, gets its color from a dye additive and helps to hide the contents of the tank as well as prevent the growth of odor-producing bacteria.

Our service techs add blue to toilets after they’re delivered, and it will fight odors for up to 7 days. If you have a long-term porta-potty rental, we’ll pump the waste tank and replace the blue on your designated service day. If it’s a short-term rental, the tank will be pumped before the toilet is removed from the site.

Blue is an essential supply in our industry to keep units smelling clean!

Where Should My Portable Restroom Be Placed?

Most customers prefer their portable restrooms to be placed conveniently near where workers or event guests will be, without being the focal point of the area. You can show our driver where you’d like the unit to be placed when they arrive. However, you aren’t required to be present for the delivery. If you have a specific location in mind but aren’t available during the delivery, either mark the location on the site or provide us with instructions ahead of time.

We will do everything possible to accommodate your request. However, we may suggest alternative locations if a spot is inaccessible for our delivery truck or could put the porta-potty at risk of tipping over or being damaged.

If an area is currently muddy or the forecast calls for rain and could cause the area to become muddy, it’s not a good spot for a porta-potty. We don’t want our truck to get stuck trying to deliver or pick up the portable restroom, and your workers or guests won’t want to slog through the mud to use the toilet.

For the safety of users and the protection of the unit, we offer a variety of suggestions to keep toilets upright. First, porta-potties should always be placed on firm, level ground. In high-wind areas, it’s a good idea to locate toilets inside a shelter/windbreak or against a wall. Other ways to prevent tip-overs are to stake the toilet down or secure it with a ratchet strap.

Keep in mind that the place you want your porta-potty to be located needs to be accessible by truck. This means that at the time of your scheduled delivery, gates should be opened or unlocked, roads/driveways should be clear of obstructions and easily drivable, etc.

Will the Porta-Potty Be Ready for Use Upon Delivery?

Yes! Your toilet will be in usable condition before our delivery driver leaves the site. This means the unit will be clean, there will be blue in the tank, and any applicable accessories/supplies will be installed/stocked. If you are on-site and would like to inspect the unit and/or ask questions while our employee is on-site, feel free!

Will the Portable Toilet Kill My Grass?

Portable toilets are relatively lightweight. If it’s a short-term rental, you shouldn’t need to worry about the porta-potty itself affecting your grass. However, keep foot traffic in mind. If the porta-potty will see heavy use, the area around the entrance to the unit could be affected. If this is a concern, we recommend locating the toilet on pavement or just off the pavement with a mat or wood to serve as a landing.

If My Portable Restroom Gets Extra Dirty or Smelly, Can I Request a Cleaning?

Of course! But keep in mind that unscheduled cleanings will come at an additional cost.
